Members of the 2012-13 SMART Team (Students Modeling a Research Topic) are off to Boston to present their work at the Experimental Biology Conference of the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) from April 18 to the 22. While there, they will attend the National SMART Team meeting and networking with more than 20 other teams from around the country at The Governor's Academy School outside of Boston.
The SMART Team has been working with their mentor, Peter Lee from the Ian Wilson Lab at The Scripps Research Institute to study the development of a pan vaccine that would address all H3 strains of the flu virus.
Upon their return, the team's poster and model will be on display in the Viterbi Gallery. Their work centers on the development of a pan vaccine for the flu virus. It has also been accepted by the Extreme Science and Engineering Conference that is being held here in San Diego in July.
